Manuela Lorenzi-Kayser RYT
I started to meditate and practice Hatha Yoga in 1978. At the time I mostly
focused on the spiritual aspect of yoga and had viewed Hatha Yoga as a
complement to my dance training, faithfully daily performing the "Rishikesh
series", a set of 12 poses from the Sivananda tradition. In 1999 I started to take
classes in vinyasa yoga, which I enjoyed immensely because of its closeness to
dance. In 2003 I stumbled on June Locklin's teacher training. This was my first
introduction to an Iyengar-influenced style of yoga and I soaked up the
rigorous attention to details and the depth of anatomical understanding. I have
been teaching yoga since 2004. In my yoga classes I strongly draw from my
previous 9 years of dance teaching, as well as from what I learned from my
yoga practice. I encourage the students to achieve the best possible alignment,
while at the same time letting go of perfection and savor the joy of the moment.
